Jaap Dommisse (1929-1984) began his ceramics career as an apprentice to
Jan van Stolk,
with whom he worked for seven years. From 1959 he worked independently,
founding his own
studio in Oosterbeek. In 1971 he moved his studio to Vlissingen, where
he worked until 1973.
Dommisse made mostly smaller pieces with an all-over texture. His pots
generally
have a solid field color with images in the COBRA style in one or two additional
colors.
His work is much sought after today.
